Responsible for providing objective appraisals to management and the Board of Directors of loans and credit applications in the bank’s portfolio.
Identifies potential loan problems and ensures compliance with established loan policies and federal regulations.
Performs regular loan and credit reviews based on Board approved scoping criteria.
Reviews will cover asset quality, loan file documentation, lending compliance, and validation of loan risk ratings.
Provides recommendations to senior management and the board of directors on risk rating changes, adverse loan classifications, and loan charge offs.
Ensures the credit worthiness of the loan portfolio by looking for changes that merit are view of lending practices.
Identifies problem loans and describes deficiencies.
Perform loan portfolio and individual credit stress testing analysis for risk monitoring.
Determines if proper approval procedures and loan authorities are adhered to. Identifies and evaluates portfolio trends with respect to delinquency, bankruptcy, demographic and other factors.
Provides clear and concise reporting of individual credits and the portfolio as a whole to management and the board of directors.
Monitors portfolio diversification in accordance with policy guidance and strategic plan. Reviews bank processes (loan approvals, policy exception reporting, supervisory loan to value limits, underwriting, covenants, internal controls, concentration reporting, ALLL methodology, etc.).
Evaluates the adequacy and effectiveness of tracking systems. Through review of individual credit files, informs management about any suspicious or potential fraudulent lending activity.
Verifies quality, completeness and accuracy of supporting loan documentation and analysis. This would include a periodic review of mortgage, appraisal, UCC filing, tax records, lien perfection, and all other credit file related items.
Performs regular back-end review of financials and related analysis (financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls, personal financial statements, cash flow statements, etc.).
Identifies trends, completes debt service coverage analysis, and performance ratio analysis.
Reviews lending policies for adequacy by validating that applicable laws and regulations are addressed by policy, ensuring that actual procedures/processes uphold the written policy and making suggestions/recommendation for changes/updates/revisions to policy content.
Assesses problem loan management and workout plan effectiveness. Provides assistance and consultation to loan officers, other lending personnel (loan administration, lending assistants, etc.), internal and external auditors and regulatory examiners.
Prepares an executive summary of each review and supporting analysis by creating write-ups for presentation to individual lenders and/or management and presenting findings to Board of Directors as appropriate.
Coordinates and prepares quarterly credit meeting information. Completes quarterly loan impairment testing according to proper FASB guidelines for the bank of all classified and troubled debt loans.
Represents the bank in a positive light in all professional duties.
Participates in civic and community affairs, functions, and organizations promoting a positive involved “community image” for the bank.
Develops potential referrals and sales of bank products and services via personal and professional contacts.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
Bachelor’s Degree in a business, finance or accounting preferred
3+ years’ experience in commercial lending or credit
Thorough knowledge of lending laws and regulations
Strong analytical, technical and statistical skills
Sound working knowledge of accounting principles and financial statements
Capability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of lenders, managers, directors and/or regulatory officials
Strong sales/business development skills
Effective written and verbal communication skills
