Marion County Bank, a market leading, locally owned, community bank with branches in Pella, Knoxville and Melcher-Dallas, Iowa is seeking to hire a team-oriented Commercial and Agricultural Lending Officer to fill a newly created position. The ideal candidate will have 5-10 years of lending experience plus a sound knowledge of overall banking practices. Consumer lending experience would also be beneficial. The position will inherit part of an established commercial and agricultural loan portfolio to build upon. The candidate must exhibit a history of community-mindedness and be willing to live in and be an active part of the Knoxville community.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Adhering to Marion County Bank’s policies and supporting Management decisions and goals in a positive, professional manner.
Representing Marion County Bank with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
Maintaining knowledge and understanding of banking rules, regulations, laws and all policies and procedures pertaining to them including, but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act.
Demonstrating a willingness to adapt to changing business needs and deadlines.
Possessing a strong team-oriented, values-based work ethic.
Provide services for commercial, agricultural and consumer loans under the guidelines of the Bank’s loan policy including but not limited to:
Interviewing customers seeking loans
Collecting and analyzing financial and related data to determine general creditworthiness
Rejecting or approving loans and terms within officers’ limits and established Bank policies
Monitoring loan repayment activities and taking necessary action to collect from past-due accounts
Conduct preliminary financial analysis to determine if applicants meet established minimum criteria and inform them of the outcome. Explain alternatives, if any, to restructure loans to meet lending requirements if criteria are unacceptable.
Handling consumer/installment loans as needed
Grow the loan portfolio by establishing new customer relationships employing sales techniques and a calling program
Cross-sell Bank services
Undertake special projects relating to department services as assigned by Senior Loan Officer and/or Senior Management
Perform field work as necessary to locate and collect delinquent loan payments or secure collateral
Strong analytical ability with active listening skills.
Ability to work accurately with close attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to work with individuals and groups at all organization levels; ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to take initiative and prioritize tasks; good time-management, organizational, problem-prevention and problem-solving skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
5-10 years of lending experience
Post-secondary degree required
Additional Salary Information: Salary/bonus and benefit package will be competitive, and commensurate with the candidate’s experience.
