JOB SUMMARY: Under general supervision, but in accordance with established policies and procedures, originates commercial deposit banking relationships by identifying potential commercial businesses, discovering needs, analyzing account information and working with appropriate bank personnel to open accounts. Responds to questions concerning all aspects of commercial banking from various sources. Responsible for producing a requisite volume of quality commercial deposits to support loan growth. Enhance commercial relationships by discovering other banking needs and directly selling treasury management services. Will also participate in Partnership Banking efforts in the retail department.
Leads the effort on growing commercial deposits. Works with supervisor and other appropriate bank personnel to develop a comprehensive plan for 1) cross-selling deposit and treasury management services to existing commercial clients, 2) identifying commercial deposit prospects in the Cedar Rapids and Cedar Valley markets, 3) identifying commercial deposit prospects in Eastern Iowa outside of those primary markets, and 4) setting calling and growth goals for each of these areas. Some level of travel will be required.
Works with Retail Manager to increase/enhance bank’s Partnership Banking program. Develops appropriate goals to grow new retail accounts through Partnership Banking.
Works directly with AE’s and treasury management personnel to ensure sold accounts and services are efficiently opened and operational.
Generally will transfer the management of relationships to appropriate personnel. May participate in annual reviews with relationship managers as requested. Gathers information as appropriate in an effort to deepen the relationship with the bank. Maintains orderly record of correspondence and interactions with prospects and customers.
Works with other Business Development Officers and departments throughout the Bank to identify and pursue new business from both potential and existing clients, assembling information from other bank departments necessary to provide complete and appealing product and service proposals to existing and potential customers.
Attends internal bank meetings and training as requested by supervisors and other bank officers.
Candidates must be entrepreneurial, assertive, creative, flexible, pro-active and team-oriented in meeting and exceeding mutually established new business goals and objectives.
Perform officer duties as required, both in the office and community. This would include active involvement on bank committees, at least one non-profit organization and community activities.
Follows up with appropriate staff to correct documentation deficiencies or to acquire necessary supporting documentation.
Interacts and cooperates with administrative staff to provide timely response to customer inquiries and servicing needs.
Participates in monthly all-staff meetings and other bank events.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration, management, marketing or related field, or equivalent experience 5-10 years of experience in banking, predominately deposit generation preferred, or a polished sales professional with prospecting skills
Ability to discover deposit and treasury needs
Strong business development focus
Excellent communication skills
Ability to organize and analyze complex information is a plus
PC knowledge including spreadsheets and word processing capabilities
Interest in community and civic involvement
